Frequently Asked Questions about Spray Tanning:

1. Is spray tanning safe for me?

Yes, DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is FDA approved and has been since 1973. The DHA reacts with the amino acids in the top layer of your skin and is not absorbed through the body. However, if you have any existing conditions such as skin allergies we recommend that you check with your doctor before getting a spray tan.

2. Will spray tanning make me look orange?

No! The orange tint is a thing of the past! Our solution does not have any red or orange dyes, only brown dyes. We offer a lower DHA level solution for fair-skinned people and a higher DHA level for those with naturally darker tones. The solution will auto adjust to your skin tone and develop over the 8 hours post-spray.

3. Can I get a spray tan if I’m pregnant/breastfeeding?

Even though the DHA used in the solution is FDA approved, as with anything you do while pregnant or breastfeeding, we still recommend checking with your doctor.

4. Will the spray tan stain my clothing/sheets?

Initially, right after the tan, we recommend that you wear dark loose clothing as the bronzer may rub off on your clothes before your post-tan shower. If any solution does transfer to your clothes or sheets, don’t worry, it should wash right out. Avoid wearing new bathing suits, silk clothing, or silk sheets.

5. How long will my tan last?

Most tans last approximately 7-10 days. This depends on your skin type and how well you care for your tan. Check out our 'Before & After Care' on tips for extending your tan. With proper care, maintenance, and follow up sessions, you can really extend the life of your tan.

6. How long does the spray tan session take?

We ask that you set aside approximately 45-60 minutes for the entire session. However, the actual spray tanning only takes about 20-25 minutes followed by 5 minutes of drying time.

7. How many days before a big event should I get a spray tan?

We recommend scheduling your tanning session 24-48 hours before your big event to allow enough time for the tan to set in. Some solutions continue absorbing up to 12 hours post-spray.

8. Why should I use a mobile service instead of going to a booth/salon?

A tanning booth is unable to give a custom tan. A booth can spray areas too light or too heavy resulting in an uneven, blotchy, or streaky tan. By using a custom mobile service, we are able to modify the tanning process best suited to your body. As certified spray tanning technicians, we ensure your tan comes out looking great by helping apply the barrier cream, choosing the appropriate DHA level solution for your skin tone, positioning you during your tan to prevent streaks/blotchy areas, and answering any questions you may have about the solution/process along the way.
